1. 45 steel
The GB/T699-1999 standard specifies that the tensile strength of 45 steel is 600MPa, the yield strength is 355MPa, the elongation rate is 16%, the cross-sectional shrinkage rate is 40%, and the impact energy is 39J.
45 steel is a commonly used material for shaft components. It is inexpensive and can achieve good cutting performance after quenching and tempering (or normalizing), as well as comprehensive mechanical properties such as high strength and toughness. After quenching, the surface hardness can reach 45-52HRC. 40Cr and other alloy structural steels are suitable for medium precision and high-speed shaft parts. After quenching and tempering, these steels have good comprehensive mechanical properties.
45 steel is widely used in mechanical manufacturing and has excellent mechanical properties. But this is a medium carbon steel with poor quenching performance. 45 steel can be hardened to HRC42~46. So if surface hardness is needed and the superior mechanical properties of 45 # steel are desired, the surface of 45 # steel is often quenched (high-frequency quenching or direct quenching) to obtain the desired surface hardness.
2、40Cr
40Cr is a commonly used material for shaft components. It is inexpensive and can achieve good cutting performance after quenching (or normalizing), as well as high comprehensive mechanical properties such as strength and toughness. After quenching, the surface hardness can reach 45-52HRC.
40Cr and other alloy structural steels are suitable for medium precision and high-speed shaft parts. After quenching and tempering, these steels have good comprehensive mechanical properties.
40Cr is the standard steel grade of GB in China, and 40Cr steel is one of the most widely used steels in the mechanical manufacturing industry. After quenching and tempering treatment, it has good comprehensive mechanical properties, good low-temperature impact toughness, and low notch sensitivity. The hardenability of steel is good, and it can be quenched to Ø 28-60mm in water quenching and to Ø 15-40mm in oil quenching. This type of steel is suitable for cyanide and high-frequency quenching treatment in addition to quenching and tempering treatment. The cutting performance is good, and when the hardness is HB174-229, the relative machinability is 60%.
3、30CrMnTi
Higher strength and hardenability than 20CrMnTi steel, but slightly lower impact toughness. Mainly used for carburizing steel, it can be cooled and quenched directly after carburizing, with high bending strength and good wear resistance. Can be used after quenching, low-temperature tempering or quenching and tempering, with moderate machinability. Used for manufacturing heavy-duty carburizing parts with large cross-sections in the tractor industry, as well as gears, gear shafts, worm gears, etc. that are subjected to high forces.
4、35CrMnSi
Standard: GB/T 3077-1988
35CrMnSi steel is a low-alloy ultra-high strength steel with good comprehensive mechanical properties, high strength, sufficient toughness, hardenability, weldability, and formability after heat treatment. However, it has low corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance, and is used after low-temperature tempering or isothermal quenching.
